The degrees sign

#1 Postby wxmann_91 » Wed Aug 24, 2005 6:31 pm

I remember a thread from some time ago that mentioned how to insert the degrees symbol. Does anybody know where it is?

And for some reason, the search function is not working.

Thanks! :D

(And BTW this is for my amateur forecast - which will be coming out in the next hour. JFYI)

Press and hold Alt while typing 0 1 7 6

83° is 8, 3, then holding Alt, 0,1,7,6

Thanks but I still can't do it on Notepad, but I've found a way - do it in MS Word and then paste it on Notepad.

EDIT: Scott, I can't hold down ALT and do it, it does a "ding" type of sound.

To enter special characters while holding ALT, you have to use the Numeric Keypad (with NUMLOCK on), not the top row of number keys.

True. Mine is on by default and thus neglected to mention. Thanks.

And for an easier way, which includes lots of other symbols, would be to go to...

Programs ---> Accessories ---> System Tools ---> Character Map

I would prefer to go to that, mostly because I don't like the shortcuts. Entering the keys right is too much of a challenge for me. :P
