Bad news about landfall area

#1 Postby caneman » Thu Aug 25, 2005 6:42 pm

The storm will traverse on a fairly skinny part of the state and probably will not drop in speed like Frances and Jeanne did. This isn't good.

Plotting the 7pm advisory on the map showed me that it just made a turn to head straight at the "Miami" dot. Not the best thing that could have happened.

Ignore post like this, people tend to do this when the storm misses there area or doesnt live up to his or hers expectations. Had alot of this last year, and recently with Dennis the "Dud".

Hardly a non-event with up to 15 to 20 inches of rain expected is some areas. And God only knows what will happen when it hits 94 degree waters around Tampa Bay area. Probably not a good thing to say unless you can predict the future.

If there are lots of trees down that caused the power outages it won't seem like a non-issue to the powerless peeps as they enter day 3, 4 or 5 of no AC in the Florida heat and humidity.

Forgot that...

I guess it has to be 1 million to be an "event".

It is at least as strong as Frances was here (Coral Springs, Northern Broward).

Mom lives 1 mile east of me, just down the street. She lost her power. :(

This "non-event" is nowhere near through with Florida, and quite possibly Alabama, Mississippi as well.

It's strange -- well maybe it's not that strange -- that people who actively root for these storms to form (I saw several "Go Katrina" posts) and get stronger on this very board don't make many enemies. Honestly, some of the stuff I read from Floridian posters after those 4 storms hit last year was surprising -- how they were disappointed their part of the state didn't get hit, how they want to be outside when an eye passes overhead, etc. This definitely happened...

I have the desire to witness violent weather phenomena. I've said some stupid, insensitive things as a result. And I have to deal with those demons...

Still, these impulses probably aren't abnormal -- I'm sure CNN's ratings tonight aren't nearly as high as they would be if this were a major hurricane.

A little rain and wind?

This is a nasty little storm

2 are dead and likely (but hopefully not) more to follow

thats what a little rain and wind can do
