Times sure have changed...
At this point before Camille - we barely even knew there was a storm in the Gulf. In fact, it wasn't until about 12 hours before landfall that anyone started taking any kind of action at all to prepare. As I recall, my mom told me that a storm was coming at about 8:30am on Sunday morning. By 9pm that evening, all &&$%*# was breaking loose!! And the rest, as they say, is history...
