Plaquemines Parish Evac Orders

Plaquemines Parish has started their evacuation plan. The rest of metro New Orleans will have a news conference at 12pm cdt.

Grand Isle is also under a mandatory evacuation order.

I'm glad to hear about some evacs from down there, I was starting to get worried that they would wait too long, but 3 more hours before we here a decision.

There will be too may folks that hang around too long no matter when they order it. I was stationed in Belle Chase at the NAS which was the first substantial shelter for everybody south of there. The parish runs all the way to the delta and there is only 1 decent highway to get out on. The NAS is a pretty good shelter, but it won't hold everyone.
