Will New Orleans take a direct hit?

I think everyone expects it to now. If it gets close to passing or does pass the 90 degree longitude mark at the next update or so, it's pretty much guarenteed, IMO.

It's gonna be EXTREMELY close... the forecast is basically the same it's been for 2 days.

She is almost at 90 W (she's at about 89 W now). Once she hits 90, I don't think its any longer a matter of whether NO takes a direct hit. It's going to come down to whether she takes a hit from the northern or northeastern eyewall. Either way, it's going to be bad. Very, very bad.

Unfortunately, it appears New Orleans' luck has run out. They're in the crosshairs this time and only divine intervention can save them now.

Only Katrina knows for sure, NW or NNW movement will take into NOLA

i think it's turning a little sooner than forecasted so i think it may miss new orleans by 20 or 30 miles to the east; they will probably get northerly winds on the order of 80-100mph but the 125+ mph winds, in my opinion will stay from a line from grand isle to just east of new orleans to the LA/MS border. but someone between NOLA and Biloxi is gonna get hammered.
