Any reports from St. Tammany Parish?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

I am trying to find out info on Slidell as well. The governor of Louisiana just said during her conference that St Tammany Parish was hit hard and that downtown Slidell was under water. City officals have closed St Tammany Parish down for the moment.

If anyone has any info on Slidell please post. I have many family members there.

Thank you!

WWL has put a number for local government officials on the northshore to call in, as they have not been able to contact them.

I fear this will be very, very bad. Slidell=Homestead, perhaps.

One of the reporters in Houston, Wayne Dolcefino, had a video diary-esque thing of him going through the storm in Slidell. The video of it is not up on the KTRK website yet. I'll post the link when it goes up (probably right before the 10pm news).

The water was up to his knees though.

You think Slidell got it bad, BSL/Pass Christian/Diamondhead were in the eastern eyewall. Very little info coming out of there at all. The majority of my friends got out but I am so very worried about one who could not get her family to leave.

I evacuated from Diamondhead to Starkville, MS. Been without power a little bit of the day but back in business. Had a friend from D'head report back several hours ago that no water, electricity, all trees down, nearly all power lines down, basic war zone. She and I are both 60 and 80 feet above sea level.

Since direct link to the video doesn't work, go to:
http://abclocal.go.com/ktrk/weather/082905_APweather_katrina.html and click on the link called, "Wayne's Slidell Report." It's the first one, right next to the blue caption box.

That's Wayne Dolcefino's report from Slidell during the middle of the Hurricane. He's Houston's resident Hurricane risk-taker, because he's convinced that he'll land himself a national position like Dan Rather did. Anyways, he talks a little about the damage. Hope this helps anyone from the area.
