Im from Overland Park Kansas. Kansas City radio station news reporter (KMBZ) Dan Verbeck is working WWL to help relieve their staff. He just called KMBZ to say he was at the EOC center on the west side of the city. He had just talked to the parish president about one hour ago and the parish president said he was facing a "Hobsons Choice" people. The situation with the Superdome could rapidly become dire regarding food and water and the flooding would make resupply difficult to impossible. It sounds like the plan is to make certain buildings "refugee islands" where they will ferry people to and attempt to keep them resupplied. They know that they will have a limited number of these refugee islands due to logisitcs. The parish president said he knows that his decisions will be the difference between life and death for some.
Pray for everyone down there.
