Is anyone else getting the same sentiments?
Given the unprecedented nature of these horrific hurricane seasons
2004 and 2005 I am
strongly considering moving from near the water to higher ground.
Possibly away from where I am now.
Is anyone else getting the same sentiments?
These disasters are getting too horrific. I can't stand it much longer.

We will be gone from FL sometime within the next few years. Hopefully to either Austin or San Antonio. We don't much care for Fl - -- -we moved here to help take care of elderly, sick parents. Since Charlie last year, and now with what has happened in NOLA, I definitely want away from the GOM!!!!

Now that I think about it I recall all the great memories from
living here-
I don't think I'll leave Florida- I'll stay in the Tampa Bay Area
it is a beautiful place
BUT
I may rebuild about 5-6 miles further inland and at a higher elevation.
I am not staying near any coastal water.

I love the area I live in. The green tree's year round, fresh air, little snow, mild temps, beautiful ocean beach walks with my husband as the sun sets, star gazing at night, great fishing... I could go on and on. I also know having all these beautiful things comes with a risk of hurricanes. My husband and I knew this before we moved here and have excepted the risk of hurricanes is the price we pay to have the things we love.

Already did!
We just moved from Florida to north of Atlanta. After last year I had enough. Told my hubby "we are outta of here" By the way I love it here plus the homes are not overpriced like in Florida!!

Where you live and what you drive is a personal choice limited by y9our resources.
If I were rich I would live in a 3 million dollar home on a nice beach somewhere and drive a Hummer that got 10MPG. The reality of the situation is I am a working member of the middle class so I live where I can drive 45 minutes and be on Pensacola beach and I drive a Dodge Diesel truck that gets 21MPG on the road.
When the Canes start throwing storm surge 10 miles inland and up 165ft elevations then I will move. When I cannot afford to put fuel in my truck I will choose to buy a small car that gets 45MPG.
but for now I can put up with the wind and high fuel prices.
I hope when the rebuild New Orleans they do a better job of preparing it for the floods. Mississippi needs to consider sea walls for its gulf coast.
When was the last time Tampa was hit hard from a Cane?
