You wanna know what I'm mad about?

Lots of things.

But these two angered me more than most:

1) Evacuee from Superdome to Astrodome complained that they didn't serve hot meals and she did like the MREs. Excuse me?? Lady, if they're good enough for our troops for the past umpteen years, then they are good enough for your overly-entitled arse. Where did she think they'd get the power to heat the meals from??

2) People who live in dry, intact million dollar homes and wear nice suits and pearls and have $500 hairdos and who go on TV to either dog out our National Guard, or say that we deserved it because of our governor, or say that only one race is in need of help.

The hell with 'em all. I won't be watching the national news for the next 24 hours in an effort not to stroke out.

I recommend you just leave the teevee off. I turned off my teevee about six months ago. Its a marketing tool intended to bend your mind. There are much better sources of info on the internet. There are worse sources as well, but we'd all be better off becoming discriminating data cosumers.

I saw that interview about the "no hot meals" and had the same reaction. That said, I think we have to try and give all the people from the disaster area a break...they have been living in an information vacuum and probably are 1) in shock 2) don't realize the extent of the damage
3) did not have thier expectations managed.

I don't think anyone realized what we would be seeing when the mayor said the superdome was the "shelter of last resort", sadly, we all do now.

Okay, I'm totally with you on (1), but I don't get (2)! What are you referring to?!

Also, I see that you are from Mississippi. If you are referring to Gov. Haley Barbour, I'll tell you what .. he's done a GREAT job! Now, the Gov of LA is ANOTHER story!

I really think the combination of CNN/Fox News and the internet are the reason that New Orleans is finally getting all this help.

You know...the message we received yesterday is that we must prepare to be self-sufficient. That means when I drive out...I will have 14 days of MRE's with me...and a cot...sleeping bag...all my meteorology equipment...cloths...and a 9MM..

I am giving up hot meals willingly (yes...I volunteered to be at ground zero forecasting the relief efforts) to eat MRE's...which I have been eating while in the field for a long time...while I am away from home.

And BTW...all MRE meals come with a heater. Just add water and it will be hotter than you could imagine.

They could allways clean up debree while waiting to leave......

They could even salvage material and build a tempoary shelter...
