You have all probably seen this... but this article is from last October.

Kind of creepy in its accuracy...

This was a bad but it could of been some what worst. If the hurricane would of went 20 miles west it would of likely blow the river levy. In which would of pushed a wall of water 30 feet tall into the super dome. So instead of talking hundreds of death right now. We would be talking about tens of thousands if not more.

Where've you been, Matt? They are talking about tens of thousands.

That said, the Superdome still might've held up to a direct hit, though I personally doubt it. The deep water wouldn't have mattered as much, unless the dome failed. They got everyone up into the seats until they were sure flooding wouldn't be an issue.

That water would also be moving alot faster but that levee toward lake Pontchartrain is the one that flooded most of the city including downtown

If the river levy would of broke it would of not been a slow 1 foot per hour rise. But a wall of water of 25 to 30 feet. It would of also flooded the inside of the super dome. In that at that time was reported to of 30 to 50 thousand people. Also alot of the people that stayed alive on there roofs to be saved would of been killed by this.

Also instead of breaking after the storm. It would of broke when the hurricane was going over. Most likely...

Also there is no confirmed reports of 10s of thousands dead. Last I heard only 81 was confirmed in New orleans. In only a few hundred through out ground zero.

Yes but there are many thousands missing and some of their bodies may never be found, lost to the sea and floodwaters.
