I do see a lull for at least a week or so, but it should get going again real quick after it ends.

IMHO over the years that 7-10 day lulls are not that unusual after strong proton flare....and we have had many.

1) NW Caribbean isn't too bad. It reminds me of Bret, Gert, and Jose. I think this could be mentioned in the next TWO, as it is moving northwest (I think).
2) East Caribbean wave, while bad right now, could get its act together down the road. No TWO for a couple of days, but WCarib could be condusive for development.
Short term= Probably no development, long term, this season is no where near over.

Noticed a flare up in the tropical wave around 10 degrees north 40 degrees west. Maybe something to watch on down the road.

Quiet? Hey we need a day or two to get our energy back for what could come our way. It just the beginning of the peak.

I've heard this 4 or 5 times this season and it hasn't panned out.

We can only hope. However, there are over 2 months to go. I'm sure we'll have a few more storms.

That's either sarcasm or a very interesting opinion...

I believe that we'll see another 3-6 named storms this year. It's entirely possible that we'll see another form and hit before the year is out. Oh heck, I just wanna beat 1933.

I would say a little longer about 2 weeks before the wet phase of the MJO starts to move in and things pick up again.

Wasn't being sarcastic---think we've passed the peak of the season, but will see 3 more storms, of which two will be hurricanes, and no more majors---that would give us 18 storms, and 9 'canes.

After Katrina, beating any "record" is meaningless--who cares if this season has more storms than 1995 or 1933? We've had one of the worst in history this year.

I say the rest of the season our numbers will be 5/3/2. That would give us a total of 20/10/6.

I expect a lull for about a week or so before Philippe and Rita develop later this month, with at least one becoming a major hurricane. In October, I expect one more major hurricane to develop in the boiling Caribbean waters. I also think one other hurricane develops, but doesn't become a major. Two other tropical storms is extremely possible as well.

When you spell it out like you did, it sure sounds feasible.....if not scary.

Wow, can you imagine if we went into a bit of a lull? The tropics taking a nap in September; who would've thought?
