This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Ophelia scheduled to visit NYC?

#1 Postby f5 » Sun Sep 11, 2005 3:48 pm

according to the TWC cone of uncertainty NYC appears to be in it but if it were to hit NYC from the south it would be worse then Katrina. Also not to get off topic but Bin Laden would most likely issue a video tape to Al Jazerra proclaiming Mission Accomplished for Allah.

Yes, NYC is in the cone along with Charleston, Raleigh, Norfolk, Washington, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Atlantic City, Providence, Boston, and Portland, just to name a few. It is a cone of uncertainty. The only effect it will have on NYC from the south is if it first runs up the Chesapeake and and cuts through Phili. If that doesn't count, then there is no other way for it to get there with this environment.

I took a little eco-cruise in the Meadowlands in New Jersey last night (vicinity of Giants Stadium), and we were shown decayed old floodgates destroyed by Hurricane Hazel 50 years ago. Hmmm.
