The screenshot below reminded me of the havoc Ophelia played on a stretch of AIA in Florida:

Ophelia Closes Highway; Winds Whip Coastline

UPDATED: 9:56 pm EDT September 8, 2005
ORLANDO, Fla. -- State highway workers closed a portion of AIA in Flagler County Thursday after crashing waves from Tropical Storm Ophelia created a large hole under at least one section of the highway.
"There is a frantic effort to save Highway AIA from the waves," Local 6 News reporter Tarik Minor said. "This is what they feared from Tropical Storm Ophelia."
Minor said the road located at Flagler Beach near 18th Street was closed because water was eating away at the structure Thursday morning.
Highway workers told Local 6 News that the road was compromised and without immediate action, parts of the highway could wash away.
The waves were seen sucking the sand from underneath the road Thursday and it is expected to get worse as the storm moves closer to the coastline.
"When the waves hit the shore, you can feel their force underneath your feet," Minor said.
"I believe it is Mother Nature showing her wrath," resident Mike Horne said. "All we can do is prepare for the worst. We learn valuable lessons day in and day out."
Workers are dropping rocks into the road hole to try to save the road. *[edited to bold this strange sentence - I keep saying it aloud over and over. "Road hole" LOL!]
There are reports that a hole was spotted on 15th Street on Flagler Beach.
