Flooding already starting in New Bern, NC

Here are some pics I took today (Sept. 11, 2005) of Union Point Park in New Bern, NC. This is an area that usually floods when we get a hurricane, but thought it was interesting seeing it is not suppose to come in for a couple more days. Makes me wonder what we are in for.

That wind gradient is backing that water up in the Pamilco and Neuse rivers. The southern side of the Pamlico Sound is forecast to have tides 4 feet above normal tides until O decides what to do. (edit)

this reminds me so much of Dennis its not even funny! he filled the sounds up too with a ton of water before turning back and making a landfall!

We have extremely high tides on the north side of the Pamlico too- water had washed across our road at two places yesterday while I was down doing storm prep stuff.

I just stayed in that Comfort Suites a couple of weeks ago. Did not realize how close to the river level it was.

Had a meeting in the convention center. That is one nice building.

Thanks ncbird. I continually monitor the water level as it's just in my backyard. It is at a hair above normal right now, thankfully. I didn't want the water level up before any real winds come!
