Suggestion for the pages on a forum

Without the search function these days, when we are going back to search for a particular thread, sometimes we've to go back over 50 pages. So we click "next" 50 times. What a pain it sometimes is.

So I was wondering if we could have a thing where we click on "Goto page", and a popup box opens, and we can type the page number. For example, supposedly in five years I wanted to look back at the threads we started about Hurricane Katrina. And supposedly we'd have to click "next" 1000 times just to go back. But with this feature I could just directly jump to page 1000.

Now you might think this is redundant, but sometimes in the search function 10000 matches are found, and you might have to go through half of those just to find your thread. If you remember the approximate time the thread was made you could just use the "Goto" function and go from there.

It doesn't have to be exactly like this, but the gist is that it would really be nice if there was something that would allow us to directly jump to a certain page on a forum (like Talkin' Tropics).

Does anybody get what I'm saying? I don't even know. But whatever, I hope you get it.

In a way, you can.

For instance, if you go to the Talkin' Tropics forum, the URL is: http://www.storm2k.org/phpbb2/viewforum.php?f=31

Page 2 is... http://www.storm2k.org/phpbb2/viewforum ... 0&start=50

Just change the start number at the end. Each 50 reflects a page.

For example, if you need page 4, ...start=150
