#1 Postby Skyline » Sun Sep 18, 2005 8:09 am

Has there ever been a case of this happening? Has there ever been simultaneous major hurricane impacting the USA?

There would be mass histeria as the two hurricanes, both with 20 ft surges (one in NO and one in New York), collide over the Appalachians and create a monster flood. The one to hit NO has already devoured Miami and a new hurricane with winds of 140 mph is bearing down on Houston.

The closest was last year's Bonnie and Charley, hitting on August 12th and August 13th. Bonnie was a 50 M.P.H. tropical storm hitting Florida Panhandle, and Charley was a Category 4 hurricane hitting Punta Gorda Florida.

On September 10th, 1971, Hurricane Edith hit Honduras as a Category 5 hurricane, while Hurricane Fern was hitting Texas as a Category 1.

On September 12th, 1960 Hurricane Donna hit New England as a Category 2. 3 days later Tropical Storm Ethel (Once a Category 5 hurricane yea right) hit Mississippi.

On September 19th, 1955, while Category 3 Hurricane Hilda was hitting Mexico, Category 2 Hurricane Ione hit North Carolina.
