D Fiske - Ocean Springs, MS
I was walking to the bathroom when I heard a strange noise. It sounded like a 747 landing on us. Then all of a sudden water came through the cracks of the house and then through the windows and then finally all I then was a great wall of water coming through my wall and ingulfing me. I was swept out into what I think was my neighbors yard. I grabbed a branch holding for dear life. By morning I was dangling 20 feet up in a tree with a broken leg. I waited for several hours until some local police came and got me down. And now when I looked at my home destroyed not even the foundation survived it must have been swept away with the wave. Now I regret living down on the gulfcoast.
C Lawrence - Pascagoula, MS
The Pascagoula beachfront was completely destroyed. Debris from those houses littered neighborhoods three blocks inland. Senator Lott's home is gone. Widespread flooding has left thousands homeless south of Hwy 90. There are reports of many storm related deaths. Businesses were flooded or damaged. We have very limited communications. Cellular and phone service is spotty or non-existent. We need supplies and fuel! Please Help!
N Sheffield - Kiln, MS
My brother Nick Rauxet stayed alone at my home in Jordan River Shores on Apache Drive in Kiln MS. The last time we talked to him he had to swim out of the kitchen window of my home that is elevated about 20 feet of the ground. We have not spoke to him since. He said that all of the homes around him were destroyed. Thank you.
