if its hits galveston...

im in clute now pretty close to freeport like about 15 milles from freeport...would i have to leave?..and would i be on the bad side?

If it hit Galveston, you're to the west so you wouldn't be on the "dirty" side. But that's not to say you wouldn't feel any effects.

I would leave. YOu are too close to the coast.

If you are in Clute...expect about 2-3 foot of water in your house if the storm veers jsut a little to the left and comes in near sargent. Given that you need 48 hours to evacuate...there is no way you can be that accurate in forecasting that far out...so unless you want to sit in water...you better get out. My sister-in-law and brother-in-law live in Lake Jackson...along with my in-laws (mother and father in law)...same advice to them.

The distance between Galveston and Freeport is not very much and remember Rita is a large storm. TS force winds extend out 145 miles from the center. You should be prepared to leave the coastline.
