Cell Phones Not Working!!!!

#1 Postby KLP124 » Wed Sep 21, 2005 5:56 pm

I can't make or receive calls on my cell phone here (near Beaumont). Getting the same information from people in Beaumont, Houston and College Station. If you plan on evacuating, it will probably be a good idea to go over your routes with everyone travelling in your group BEFORE you leave.

Good luck to all!

I'm in College Station and I can barely use mine. I literally have to open my window and hang out of it pretty much to get a signal.

Get used to it!

In New Orleans when we evacuated, it did that the entire time. I just got service back what a week ago and its been 4 weeks. Sucks... Only thing I did was keep trying. May take 10-20 times.

There are just too many people using them at the same time, especially along the major evacuation routes...many towers will be at capacity with all those people on the roads. Best thing to do is to hang up and keep trying if the call is that important otherwise try not to use the phone too much. Most important keep the phone charged at all times. Once most of the rush of evacuations slow down.....the usage should go down.

My brother in Baton Rouge has not been able to call out on his(Cingular) since the storm. Forget about cell phone service for a long time. (More than likely)

Cingular got completely shut down. I work for a wireless provider and we were back up 2 days after the storm. We're now at 95%.

Aye, one of the caveats of cell phone service. There is limited capacity!

If you can't call out, try text messaging. Cingular suggested that during Katrina, and it worked.
