Ok my mind is not in the gutter but I had to laugh when I seen this. I looked at that an wondered to myself why in the world wuld they give a storm a name like that. I hope that is not a real persons name :wink:

I couldn't imagine reporting on this storm. I mean really, I have seen some strange names but this one really stands out. Whats next longduckdong....I know the oreintal people use these types of names but I sure as heck wouldn't give it to a storm that would get public attention but I do have to addmit it is pretty funny :lol:

It's not a person's name-WPAC names are mostly terms from Nature or identifications of natural objects. It's also not pronounced quite the same as we would do it. I forget it's actual meaning but it's not anything to do with what y'all are thinking.

Hahaha my mind isn't really in the gutter either, but imagine the headlines if Longwang hit the city of Bangkok....

If I translate correctly, Longwang is Chinese for Dragon King, which probably isn't a good name for a typhoon either since the Dragon King was supposed to be extremely powerful and not always benevolent.

yes, and there's a link to the pronounciation in the advisories thread as people seemed to have an issue with the name. :?: :lol:

The Asian people probably don't find the name funny at all. Who knows, perhaps there's a Japenese Storm2K equivalent that thought "Rita" was an absolutely ridiculous name! hehe
