a question about plastic tarps

My apt bldg suffered a bit of roof damage in Rita. The roofers came out and covered it with plastic... I'm on the 2nd floor of a 3 story bldg. The upstairs apt took on some water during the storm, but fortunately it didn't find it ways downstairs to my bedroom.

How well do those plastic hold up to wind and rain?

they hold up good......my neighbor had a tarp on their roof forever after Frances and Jeanne came through here last year......and it never leaked.....so i think youll be allright until you get it fixed.....just make sure its on there real good so it wont blow off!

thanks.. i wasn't looking forward to moving the bedroom into the living room. btw, i'm not going up on the roof to check it out -- even if i had a ladder that reached that high

Yea, ALOT of folks around here had those blue tarps on their roofs forever and a few still do from good ol Charley, Frances,and Jeane. Some people have them pulled very taunt and nailed with boards on top to keep it secure in wind, while others are doing it there selfs I guess and don't look as leaak proof. But If you said the roofers put it on it should be fine. They were showing arieal shots of the houses last year and it was a sea of blue.....the tarps everywhere like every other house had some sort of damage, so I think they obviously worked well. Well good luck and I hope ya'll can get it fixed soon. People around here where having problems finding shingles and such, and roofers where backed up till no tomarrow with work.
