I think for those here in my area who have not helped, this will be the convincing piece.
Please do! It's important for people to see and understand what great
damage has been done here!

Totally amazing.....the powers of Mother Nature.
The United Methodist Church here has a load headed in that direction, with I think some more volunteers. According to our local news we have adopted the city, tried calling for more info and to add to the load and just waiting for a response. The pictures may help those who don't understand or those who have tried to minimize the damage.

Going back
I am going back to Waveland next week with Jesse Bass and Mike Watkins to do documentary work. Mike and I were supposed to go to Waveland for the landfall of Katrina and work with their FD and CD people. We even had the ID badges made up for us for special permission to come and go as we needed to. I still have mine. It haunts me to know what would have happened to Mike and I had we been there- instead we set up shop in Gulfport- not being able to get to Waveland late that fateful night. We will be back there next Weds and Thurs working to document and talk with the local officials with whom we would have shared that awful day together had fate been just a little different. I have some very good video of the area just hours before Katrina arrived. I cannot imagine how this will look next to the "after" shots that we will gather next week.
Good work dhweather!

Thanks Hurrycane. One of the most extensive collections I have seen. Truly heartbreaking. One thing that gets me is the trees that were killed from the salt water, esp. the giant live oaks. Even after the buildings are rebuilt it will not the look the same for many, many years, maybe not in our lifetimes. So sad.
