(Norfolk, VA) -- Navy officials say the U.S.S. Kearsarge, which had to be diverted to Liberia due to the civil unrest there, is scheduled to return to its homeport of Norfolk, Virginia on June 30th. That's just four days behind its original return date. The ship was called back from Liberia after a cease fire was signed. Before returning to Norfolk, the Kearsarge will drop off 18 hundred Marines stationed in North Carolina. The Kearsarge was one of the ships of the Amphibious Task Force East which had to deploy on short notice in January due to the war in Iraq. More ships have also been notified about their return date. On June 15th the U.S.S. Bataan and the U.S.S. Ponce are set to return to Norfolk and the U.S.S. Ashland and U.S.S. Gunston Hall are due back in Virginia Beach. On June 26th, the U.S.S. Saipan is scheduled to return to Norfolk
