2006 hurricane season and other potential record breakers!

#1 Postby krysof » Wed Oct 19, 2005 5:14 pm

I wanted to bring this up, we saw amazing things in 2005, but what would happen in 2006. I don't expect many posts here yet, I will bump this up if needed after Wilma. Also what potential records will 2006 break if there are any.

We have 2005 to finish off first. Once December comes, then we can start talking about 2006. Until then, though, we've still got to deal with the greatest season of all time.

Barring El-Nino... above average, but not as active as this year.

I will bring this thread up in the future again, probably going to use this thread because true this season is not over yet, and it feels like August.

Well when you think about the way this season was you can't help but wonder what next year will bring! This year we never really had a true CV system most all of the waves that could have developed in the open atlantic did not develop because of to much dry air and to much shear so with that being said I would not be surprised to see next year even more active then this year provideing the SSTs are above normal like this year and the shear and dry air are much less then this year!

I predict next year will be less active and have less Category 5 canes than this year.

I've been thinking about that question also. If this goes on next year again I may consider moving North. Or maybe I should just live through a couple and get used to them. The activity doesn't concern me as much as the intensity of these storms. It's a shame to have to move from your home town because the tropical season has become too dangerous and expensive. Maybe this is just a fluke.

Lets survive 2005 first before we think of 2006.
I will post my thoughts later this year.

In December I will issue my verification for my 2005 forecast and follow that up with a brief discussion and outlook for the 2006 season. After some intensive research the past 3 weeks, I will definitely be keeping an eye on SST Anomalies.

I have heard rumors of a possible La Nina for next year which would be one factor in favor of another active season.....so thats my Guess right now...the trend will continue....but maybe not as active as this year..but then again, i am reluctant to say the word *never* because you just don't know what will happen...heck we could get no home grown systems next year and get all CV Systems
i bet some folks may shudder at that possiblity

To me it'll be hard to have another year like this one next year. I think 2006 will be less active, but how much less active????
