Need prayers ASAP

#1 Postby cajungal » Thu Oct 20, 2005 8:12 pm

I need some prayers sent my way. My cousin Isabella (she is only 3), suffered a seisure when hurricane Katrina was hitting our area. My cousin Kisha, her husband, and her 3 kids which include 6-year old Noah, Isabella, and Natalie now 19-months, had evacuated to Dallas during the storm. Isabella was always healthy from birth suddenly had a seisure almost stopped breathing and my cousin Kisha had to do CPR on her! She was rushed to Children's hospital in Dallas. Thank God they evacuated because if Isabella would of had a seisure during Katrina, no rescue worker would of been able to get to her. And they could of they lost her. Anyway, it was feared that Bella had a brain tumor. They did an MRI and she thanfully did not have it. She had an abnormality on the right side of her brain. So, they put her on medicine that she got to take twice a day for a year. She seemed to do well on the medicine. Then, just the other day, I talked to Kisha and she said Bella had yet another seisure. That was Tuesday when I last talked to her. Kisha was bringing Bella to a neuorologist an hour drive away in New Orleans. I have not been able to get in touch with my cousin since to see what the doctor said. She only has a cell phone and it has been acting up since Katrina hit. The main tower for Cingular is in New Orleans. I am very worried. I love that little girl so much. I love all of my cousin Kisha's kids like they were my very own. I don't have any kids yet. I am very close with all 3 of them and they are crazy about me as well. They are in my storm2k gallery with me. Bella is the little girl on the side of her brother Noah and Natalie is the one in my lap. It is on page 8 of the gallery. But, you have to go through Board news and then click on gallery update. For some reason, my photo does not show up on the gallery on the main page. Anyway, please pray for Bella and her family.

No, nobody in my family ever had a seisure that I know of. The MRI concluded that she has an abnormality on the right side of her brain. I finally got in touch with Bella's mom (my cousin Kisha) and she said that the doctor just upped her dosage of medicine. And that he wants to see her again in 2 months. Isabella is a normal little girl that does not seem to have anything wrong. She turned 3 on July 1st. She has been completly potty trained since just before Easter this year and is functioning normally. When she had her seisure on August 29th, it complety surprized everyone. And I know Kisha and her husband were scared to death. Kisha already lost a child. Her first born Austin only lived 16 hours. And another very sad thing is that is when her and her husband and kids evacuated to Dallas for Katrina, is someone broke into thier van. While they were at the hospital with Bella! Someone tried to steal their van but was unsuccesful due to the anti-theft they had on it. But, stole their camcorder with all the kids births on it and every family video they owned. That is priceless. And they stole all their cash, credit cards, checkbook and licence and social security card. All their stuff was with them because they were worried about losing that due to the hurricane. I know I am going off topic. But, I really hope Bella will be okay and not have another seisure! I will continue to pray for her and hope everyone else can still keep her in your prayers!

No need to explain going off topic, of course we'll pray for Bella cajungal. Please keep us posted about her condition. I hope and pray they find out why she's having them and then can treat them with medication. So she can live as normally as possible. What a scary time for your cousin and her husband. I feel for all of you....again, prayers a coming.

You and yours are even now being lifted up before Him from the Bootheel of Missouri...if you do regain contact, epilepsy petit mal (small) or grand mal (severe seizures) should be investigated as a distinct possibility.

He is aware...place your self and family into His Hands.

Prayers coming from my keyboard in Phoenix this morning.

Indeed there are several possibilities as to the seizure, but the advice shared here is excellent.

Good luck and rest in knowing the His hands are holding all of you.

I'm praying for Bella, too, cajungal!

It's good that she is seeing a neurologist, now. There are various
types of seizures, and, many factors that can bring them on. I
had two grand mal seizures when I was 4 yrs. old. My mother
says I did NOT have a high fever. I had an EEG (recording of
the brain waves) at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, in
Nashville - it was normal. The family doctor said that I would
"grow out of it". I took Phenobarbital every night until I was
10 yrs. old, and, so, far, I have never had another seizure, and,
I am 43 yrs. old, now. When I was a teenager, my mother found
out ( from her mother) that her own father had seizures
(he was also an alcoholic, and, wasn't around them much). I also
work for a neurologist, and, he said that I could've had the seizures
from even a low-grade temperature - each person is different,
and, that's how my brain reacted, then.

I hope that Bella never has another, and, grows out of them, as well!

Thanks for all of your prayers. Hopefully the medicine will work this time and she will be seisure free. They upped her dose and the neurlogist wants to see her in 2 months. If you would see Isabella, you would never know anything could be wrong with her. She is a normal and right on target for a 3-year old. I am off Tuesday and so is my cousin Kisha. So, I plan to visit with the kids then. She got Bella into dancing now! And Noah who will be 7 in December, is in gymnastics. Noah has been in gymnastics since he was 3 and is the youngest on the gymnastics team. Look forward to seeing that kid in the olympics someday! He is good! Already winning first place medals! I am so proud of him!

Prayers to Bella from Toronto, Canada.....

For a Sick Child

St. Gerard, who, like the Savior, loved children so tenderly and by your prayers freed many from disease and even death, listen to us who are pleading for Bella. We thank God for the great gift of Bella and ask him to restore her to health if such be his holy will. This favor, we beg of you through your love for all children and mothers. Amen.
