#1 Postby Noah » Fri Oct 21, 2005 12:30 pm

I am trying to get perspective on this, the models change over and over, and my planning keeps changing.

The models have trended slightly N in Florida. But that could change, of course.

no one knows now. To early. But we all know how landfall points can dramatically change the day before landfall Those of us up in Tampa cant let our guard now. Personally I think we might see a more north trend in models. Not -removed-. As I dont think as far north as tampa. Sarasota possible, between there in ft myers. Everything with this will be last minute espically evacuations are needed in the Tampa area.

Frustrating isn't it? The days roll by, and still no one has any idea where this will go.

My prediction for 4-5 days now has been Cedar Key, Fl and I'm still sticking with it.

Yes, it's like watching paint dry.

The NHC updates are starting to sound like wobble threads...

I'm glad someone else feels the same way - my nerves were so shot a couple of days ago - I could barely concentrate on work, eat, etc. Today I'm too worn out to care.

I'm watching the models, but not really listening to them I guess. I keep looking at WV loops and other graphs and I still cannot see that trough digging deep enough down to shrug her off to the ENE. She's still going NW or NNW right now. She has to go N before going NE of course. I still think a gradual turn will happen instead of a sharp turn....and that gradual turn will bring it north of Tampa.

Of course, I'm no pro, so don't listen to me :D

My nerves were on edge, but now I've pretty much decided, from what I've seen, that if it hits Fl, it won't be that big of a deal. I live in Venice,Fl on the Myakka river and as of now, I'm not boarding up, evacuating, or anything else. I'll keep watching, although not as much as before because i've grown weary of it, but I'm pretty well convinced it will either go way south of me and will be cat 1 at best.

Being in Gainesville, I don't much like your Cedar Key prediction since that all but puts me in the path of the storm :P

Instead, I think I'll just ignore it....

It is irresponsible for someone to state 'the models are trending north"

There is a large divergence in 5 day tracks. Where are the UKMET and EURO? Through the FLorida straits....

If you look at all the models and their trends... some have gone northward, some southward, some have remained the same. Then there is the GFDL that is bouncing its 5 day forecast around by THOUSANDS OF MILES.

Don't make WRONG blanket statements that can effect peoples judgement.

I think our local mets are resigned to the fact that Wilma is coming to South Florida. The big question is how strong a storm we will be dealing with. If the Yucatan beats her up pretty good before the trough sucks her northeast, then we are looking at Cat 1-2 on the West Coast and minimal hurricane conditions here in Palm Beach County. As far as a Central Florida even though they are still in the cone, I can’t see it going that far up the coast. A scenario which could realistically happen is the front sucking her ENE through the Florida Straits and out into the Atlantic.
