Question for Hurricane Historians

#1 Postby HURAKAN » Sat Oct 22, 2005 3:47 pm

With the formation of Alpha, the month of October now has 5 named tropical systems (Stan, Tammy, Vince, Wilma, Alpha). The average is only 2, and the question is, what is the record for the most active October in Atlantic history?

We could have another record in our hands!

Not quite.

The record for most tropical cyclones to form in October is six: 1870, 1887, and 1950.

Beta will tie this record, Gamma will break it.

Not a problem! :D I never thought of that stat before. When I saw your message, I crunched some numbers on my spreadsheet and came up with the aforemention data.
