Max in the spotlight......

#1 Postby dixiebreeze » Sun Oct 23, 2005 7:38 pm

This seems to be the first time that NHC Dir. Max Mayfield has been in the public spotlight so often during a hurricane threat.

I think it's just great and he is a super analyst, commenting in a calm, but strong manner. I like him a lot. Met him in person once, and liked him then, too.

For my tax dollars, Mayfield is the best and outshines Joe Bastardi by megawatts. And of course, the wimps on TWC.

Hope the trend of keeping front and center during the season continues.

I agree totally Dixie. I love hearing Max talk, he has a calm and assuring voice. He is an excellent director and hopefully he will be here for many more years to come!

I'm hoping his more frequent exposure to the public will go a long way in dispelling talk about privitizing weather services. The NHC is one of the very few government agencies without a lot of waste and bureaucracy and performs a very real public service.

I'm not sure --- can't remember exactly, but I think someone tried to involve him in the blame game with Katrina. I heard that he had made a personal phone call to the "highter ups" in N.O., but didn't get his point across. Maybe he now feels that he needs to let the public know himself -- I also love listening to him and completely trust his opinion.
