S2K members in Wilma's path

#1 Postby mtm4319 » Mon Oct 24, 2005 12:02 am

This is from the long-running "What's your lat/long?" thread a couple of months ago. I plotted everyone who responded on my Google Earth software and posted some images here.

Very cool (again!!) MTM. Thanks...

BTW - Did you capture any images as Katrina was impacting our coast here? Obviously, I had no connectivity during the landfall, or for weeks thereafter, so I never did get to see if you did for Katrina what you did for Dennis.

Nope, I lost power at around 7am that morning (not exactly sure - I was sleeping) and was without for over 48 hours.

Yep - I'm there....25.27N 80.26W - Homestead....basically where the Turnpike meets US1 for anyone familiar with the area. Starting to get gusty here. I've got to try to sleep a couple hours though.

Yeah, I was thinking you probably did. Sleep for me, however, was not in the cards on that particular morning!! :D

Awe, I'm not on there. Of course, because I don't think I was here then.

Looks like we will start seeing the effects in a few hours.
Cat 2 expected when it gets to the east coast.
Boy was I WRONG in my assessment of what would happen.

Expecting it to be howling when we awaken around sunrise.
Will hopefully be able to monitor via S2K for a while in the AM until the power goes out.

Good luck to my fellow Floridians!

Just an off-topic question. On the "Florida Keys area" map, in the lower right-hand corner, there are a cluster of islands on the edge of the light blue patch. Are those part of the Florida Keys or part of the Bahamas?

I'm assuming Bahamas.

Those look like the extreme northwestern edge of the Bahamas.

I'm just a little south and east of Hurricane Queen. I'm at 26.2 and 81.8

Hey Dave I live in Greenacres City and it is my hope that we will all get through this as safely as possible!
