The ob from clearwater beach had 62 at 7 am this morning, after 69 at 4 am. Yesterday it was flip flopping from 74 to 64 then back to 71. I think there is something wrong with the observation at Pier 60. This goes back to the summer where the water temp observation was reporting 95 to 96 degrees. Other obs in the area support 67 to 70 degrees however.

There are a few spots with high 60s right near the coast but for the most part, the Northern Gulf is still high 70s.

Yea--- I thought I was drunk when I saw "62 F" for gulf temp
on 10 news this afternoon...looks like an improperly positioned
water temp measuring device

Judging by the water temp maps, it gets substantially colder right near the coast. It's a lot faster to cool 20 feet of water than 200. So probably 62 at the beach but 70+ out on the open gulf.
