New Development other than central/east caribbean activity

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

New Development other than central/east caribbean activity

#1 Postby tampaflwx » Fri Oct 28, 2005 3:10 pm

The Mods locked my previous thread and I looked into the "existing" thread which was provided, but I believe what I am monitoring is something completely different.

I had been tracking that eastern caribbean tropical wave for several days, and it appears to be converging with the central tropical wave. What i am referring to is something east of all of that currently.

The NHC says this about it:

A MIDDLE TO UPPER LEVEL LOW CENTER IS NEAR 10N57W.
CYCLONIC FLOW AROUND THIS LOW CENTER COVERS THE CARIBBEAN SEA
AND INLAND SECTIONS OF NORTHEASTERN SOUTH AMERICA...AND THE
ATLANTIC OCEAN FROM 4N TO AT LEAST 20N AND POSSIBLY A BIT MORE
TO THE NORTH BETWEEN 50W AND 65W.

This is the area I am referring to:

Mods, if you still feel this has been covered, please delete this thread and excuse my ignorance.

Luis pointed out in your other thread that the circled area is an upper level feature, not tropical in nature.

That and the other thread is not locked, although this one should be locked or deleted soon.

Sorry, I missed Luis' comment. Well, so it cannot become tropical?

It's an upper level low. To achieve tropical characteristics, a surface reflection would have to develop, then the upper low would have to give way to an upper high. Highly doubtful considering where its at, Beta, and other tropical waves that will be coming through.
