Yeah, that's a blessing.
My parents got a roofer quick because they had actually had him come out and do an estimate after Katrina. So the basic work of removing the old stuff and putting down tarpaper and sealing it are done. But apparently, there are no shingles to be had in Dade County right now, so they're having to wait to get the job completed.

How do you plan on handling the cost of the fence repair, if you don't mind me asking? Would you get reimbursed by FEMA or Insurance, or it's not that expensive and you'll pay for it out of pocket. My fence blew down as well, but I propped it back up. The studs are broke, so I have to replace those before the next windy day comes along.

cost of repair will be handled by me. Insurance doesnt cover it. I have two handymen lined up and I am going to try and get them to replace poles where required and just use the exisitng panels that seem in good shape. Fence companies will want to rip it out, do a whole new fence and wait for a permit. PM me if youw ant to discuss firther.

I hope you guys don't end up like we did after Katrina.
NO rain for six weeks, and the only rain in 10 weeks was less
than 1 inch.
I know the dry helps get repairs done, but we turned into a freakin' dust
bowl. Record setting October 0.00 inches of rain for the month. ouch!
The dust bowl has made it really hard on vegetation to recover.
I hope you guys get your repairs done, that is important.
I also hope that you guys have a good neighbor, because mine, state
farm, finally called this week and said they might be out in three more,
not sure yet.
ARRGH!

my repair efforts our underway. here is the scopp, call a fence company and they tear the whole thing out and put up a new one at substanital cost meaning th9ousands of dollars, i have about 140 ft of fence down. Here is the alternative, the panels are usually fine but the posts are shot. Get a handyman and have him put up new posts and concrete into the ground and re-use the panels. No permitting that way. Thats what i am doing, me and handyman digging 12 new post holes today, let concrete set and screw panels to new poles later this week. No permits and this is costing me around 500 dollars, I ams eeing alot of fences hanging by the street in south florida because people thought they had to get rid of it..WRONG. Plus no permitting process this way which will take months.
