2005 Atl Reports=Unnamed Subtropical Storm Report Posted

#1 Postby cycloneye » Sat Nov 12, 2005 9:33 am

This thread has been created to post all the reports for all the 2005 systems that will start to come out very soon.I am doing this because then scattered threads for the reports will be posted and in my opinion it's better to have them all in one thread so the members can read them.If you have comments about any of the reports you can do so here.

As the reports come in I will be editing the title of the thread to let know the members which report is posted.

I am awaiting two reports.Cindy to see if they will upgrade to hurricane and Emily to see if they will upgrade to cat 5.

Derek Ortt already brought the Tropical Storm Arlene Report in another thread, so here it is:

http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/2005arlene.shtml

NOTE: The report CANNOT be accessed directly from the NHC homepage, since they have not added a link to it from there. But if you click on the above link you'll see that, in fact, the official report is already available.

There is an error in the Acknowledgments section where it reads an old excerpt of the report of Hurricane Alex in 2004, but the rest of the report is official and up to date with all of the information pertaining to this year's Tropical Storm Arlene. I don't think that minor detail makes it less official, as you can tell by the report being completed on July 20th, 2005.

It will probably take months to compile all the information on death toll, damages, max surge and wave heights, and of course the max sustained winds at landfall. I wouldn't expect the Katrina report to come out until next year.

I'm sure they'll release a report on Katrina by the end of the year.

Remember, these reports can (and often do) get revised.

I think Katrina will be one of the last reports to come out.

Ivan last year still came out in mid-December, but, with almost twice the activity of last year it could take longer for the biggies.

Agree with the above comments that the Katrina report will one of the last ones but it will come within the year (December)and not go into early 2006.I will also be watching the Cindy report to see if they wil upgrade to a hurricane and the Emily one to see if they will upgrade to cat 5.

The members can check from time to time everyday to see if a new report is posted.

Katrina's report will be last since she caused the most destruction with her Godzilla size surge

Katrina's report will also be one of the longest reports on a tropical system.

Now with the new system developing I think that they will be occupied with it and the first reports will be out after the system is gone.

The Gert report is up in PDF format.

Despite the threat for heavy flooding, nothing really major from this one.

The reports are starting to come out slowly but surely.Interesting that Gert had a long track from West Africa as a tropical wave but it had a very short life in the Bay of Campeche as a Storm due to land.

Anyone have any idea why Sub-tropical Depression 22 is listed as "Tropical Depression Twenty-Two" on the reports page? Did they find full tropical characteristics?
