Yours, Mine And Ours opens November 23rd

Some of you here may remember the 1968 classic "Yours, Mine And Ours" which starred Henry Fonda, Lucille Ball, a very young Tim Matheson and a guest appearance by Tom Bosley!

Well, the Beardsleys and the Norths re-appear in the 2005 remake which stars Dennis Quaid and Rene Russo and opens November 23rd right in time for Thanksgiving weekend!

Eric - missed this topic when you started it. Laura and I saw promo's for the new movie coming out. Of course I am very skeptical.......LOL I almost always like the original better - Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? The Parent Trap? The Grinch (I know it's a cartoon made into a movie, but the cartoon is a classic!)? But I will see the new Yours, Mine & Ours, out of curiousity and interest. It is a cute story and true, if I recall.

Last night we watched the original and it still holds up very well. The lingo is funny though - love in's, generation gap, long hair, etc. The oldest teen girl had a b/f with 'long' hair and we just cracked up - it didn't even reach the top of his ears!!! LOL But aside from dated dialogue, the story was so good and funny at times. My favorite parts were when the boys gave Lucille Ball a 'very' stiff drink, the wedding and move in day, the first morning we see the entire family get ready for their day, when the newest baby is born. Small scenes like when Lucille Ball hands the youngest sibling to Mike, played by Tim Matheson.

Guess you see why I am skeptical!

I had always thought the original was older than that - guess I find it hard to believe that movies made during my lifetime are "classics" I love the original though - will probably take my kids to see the new version.

Kim - it does seem older than '68 but maybe that's b/c of Henry Fonda and Lucille Ball. The dated dialogue is a major tip off it's an old movie, but aside from that, I still love this movie!'

You've got a big point there, Mary, considering original classics and then re-makes!

My folks and I will be taking my niece and nephew to see a Friday matinee of this movie as part of our Thanksgiving weekend treat and I'll give ya'll a review when I get back!
