What replaces the 'addictive' excitement?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

What replaces the 'addictive' excitement?

#1 Postby bvigal » Sun Nov 20, 2005 7:23 am

Well folks, this year is 2 weeks from officially over. I know, I know, that's merely a date on the calendar, and will be reminded, no doubt, that more could happen (God forbid!). So, what replaces the frenetic, breathless, additive excitement this record-breaking season has brought us? (I'm not complaining, mind you, I look forward to the rest!)

There seems to be some concern that everyone will leave the board when there isn't a 888mb Cat 5 bearing down on the U.S. Well, that's probably true. The high-excitement junkies will need to find something else to keep the adrenaline pumping. (Oh for those days of youth, how I miss them!!)

Some of us, however, like to calmly discuss weather during off season, and relax a bit, have time to contemplate things like effects of solar flares, etc. So we generally don't feel a let-down, only relief, when a busy season is finally over.

My opinion of the gazillion new 'name' games and all the polls and contests? I know, yes, it's fun! Hey, I am currently hosting a game myself. But I can't hardly find it anymore, it barely stays on page one at the end of the day!

Soooo - now don't FLAME me here, it's just one person's opinion! - but it seems a bit excessive to me. Why devise ways to slow down the board and increase traffic costs$$, just because Mother Nature has, expectedly, removed the seasonal excitement at the end of the season? It's normal during a big storm to get on the board and find 3 pages of posts in the past day, but I sure don't plan to wade through all that during off season.

JMHO, all comments welcome. :D

I agree. Interesting how Mother Nature conveniently ends the tropical storm season just in time for the winter Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. Gives everyone a chance to concentrate on the festivities until we start anticipating the next 'cane season.

lol I am already thinking about next season! I am trying to figure out what I need to do to get ready! Living on the east coast with every one saying its the east coast's turn next season doesn't really give me much time to relax! lol I have been through one hurricane in my whole life and that was hurricane Bob back in 91. I don't think we could handle even a cat 1 hurricane with out major problems! lol
