This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

What is Carlos going to do?

#1 Postby vbhoutex » Thu Jun 26, 2003 4:06 pm

Currently he is moving NE towards the coast of Mexico. Will he cross into the BOC? Not likely. He is still a weak storm so the steering currents are weak on him too. As/if he strengthens he will go back to a more NW to WNW track and probably skirt along the coast which is not a good scenario. Since he is a very wet storm there could be a major peoblem with flooding and mudslides all along the coast as he progresses along the coast.

It looks to strengthen more before moving onshore most likely... probably will bring tremendous rains to Mexico. A think A North or NNW motion is likely.

Yes the major impact of Carlos will be the heavy rain that is going to fall at all that area and that can trigger mudslides and flash floodings. But I dont think it will make a crossover to the BOC.

I want to make clear that I understand that Carlos is "hugging" the Mexico coast. I was just giving reference for discussion about the shear to the storm's west. So, the system will have to move more westerly in order to encounter this shear, which isn't likely at this time.

Thank you. :)
