Hobbies?

#1 Postby azsnowman » Sun Nov 27, 2005 7:25 pm

How many here have a passion for a hobby? I do........it's my woodworking! I spend HOURS and HOURS in the shop this time of year MAKING most of family gifts, as I posted in the Winter Forum, I spent all day today with my FULL winter gear on Carhardt Bibs, gloves, longjohns AND a fire in the woodstove in the shop and I STILL froze my ever loving rear off

My Hobby is growing daylilies. But I also sew and knit when the mood strikes me. I also like to read. I used to read many books when I was in school, now I read for pleasure.

Reading, x-stitch, fitness walking (although my hip situation has slowed me down), Soduku, word puzzles, and baking are my favorite hobbies.

That is mine as well. I start to go crazy come February and March! I don't plant vegetables though, just perennials and annuals.

Weather is another hobby. I do like to do some crafts, but I'm a starter, not a finisher. I have some that I started years ago that need to be finished. I also like to read, especially short ghost stories.

In my previous life (before I got married and had children) I did a little photography, was an almost-competitive cyclist, read alot, and took a lot of road trips - usually in connection with a cycling event, or photographic pursuits.

In my current life I manage to do some reading and am relegated to being a recreational cyclist wannabe, but am biding my time for a comback in the 55 and over age category in another 9 years, when my youngest turns 18. I search ebay for spare bike parts which are getting harder to find and more expensive.

Now that the internet is here, I do spend more time than I should in front of the computer. Another hobby is keeping the computers running. They take a lot of abuse from the family members. My new hobbies are cleaning the house, doing laundry, and doing dishes.

LOL. I was thinking the same thing when I posted. What I do alot of now a days, and it was that. Joy of parent hood. Yes before kids I did alot of other things as well. Photography also, gave my younger cousin of few of my lenses, and my "nice" camera is in bad shape now. We also used to go camping alot, snorkle, travel, and hike. I will find my way back to those things adventually. Family first now. :D

As mentioned elsewhere, my hobbies include the study of history (military, legal, theological, etc.), the care and collecting of edged weapons of all countries/eras, a keen appreciation of firearms, "living history" (SCA, War Between the States, WW II) with collecting militaria of all kinds...and fending off calls from bill collectors.

Cleaning, doing laundry/dishes, and taking Annabelle (she be a ho') "side", plus picking up the mail are my daily "joys".

Bill, Annabelle (she be a 'ho) depends on you and she
loves you dearly!

Gardening in the warm weather, then, sketching and
drawing in the coldest days. I used to oil paint landscapes
and seascapes, but, I had let that go, somewhere down
the road, due to time constraints.
