Some of the pics were taken right after, others a few weeks, a month and some a few months afterward. I can't possibly post all of them and as said in many other places, it's just not the same thing when looking at the damage through pictures. I took some of these and others were taken by other area residents and a few from the newspaper, etc.

The top pics look a little like the damage from LILI...But as you got down they look like Katrina's.

Thats amazing

it got overshadowed by Katrina and thats the only reason we arent always saying how horrific that is but that just shows that even if its overshadowed a hurricane can still cause massive damage

Amazing images, it looks as if a bomb was dropped in the area.

Amazing pics southerngale. Thanks for sharing them.

I've already posted them twice so this time I'll only post the link:

Areas like Holly Beach, Peveto Beach completely erased from the earth

Hard to believe Beaumont was on the "weaker" side of Rita.

Hopefully this will show those who didn't know how damaging rita was the damage she did. No matter the strength of a hurricane, there's always devastating damage.

Very damaging storm, but much worse for Louisiana than Texas. I still don't think the people in Texas, mainly Corpus to Galveston know how lucky they have been.

Never mess with a Category Three hurricane...

Keep in mind, this was a 10-12 foot storm surge. Horrific.

We not talking about the areas that rita missed. We talking the damage that rita directly affected.

Those are amazing pics!

It's hard to imagine (for some of you) what devastation a hurricane can do. Seeing and living one is awful; worst then those pics.

My heart goes out to all who have been affected as I know too well what it is like from Charley last year.

Thank you for sharing those photos!

Drove through that area Thanksgiving Day. I had plenty to be thankful for, that's for sure.

as bad as those photos are imagine the damage if Rita would of made landfall between freeport/Galveston we would be talking about 100+ billion in damage
