Hi everyone! Prayer Warriors needed.

#1 Postby wx247 » Tue Feb 21, 2006 8:58 am

Hi everyone. I haven't been around much over the past 5 days or so because my grandfather has taken very ill. Just a little background... he has emphysema and was recently diagnosed with Parkinson's. Last Thursday we could tell he was coming down with something so we took him to the doctor as usual. The doc gave him antibiotics as usual but by Saturday he was not getting better. So we took him to the emergency room. The doctor there gave him some breathing treatments and a prescription and said that he should be better by Tuesday or so.

Well, yesterday morning my grandfather could not even walk across the room without literally gasping for air and struggling so I called his doctor who said to get him to the emergency room ASAP. It was a miracle he even made it out to the car.

Anyway, he has been admitted to the hospital and we all have been taking turns spending time with him. This, of course, has spun my life into a tailspin, missing college and working at school... but my grandfather comes first!!! This is very hard on me and my grandmother. As you may know, I live with them and have taken care of them (or vice versa you might say ;) ) for many years. Please keep him in your prayers. He is a special man to me. I know you guys are great and I love you all, too!!! Thanks.

Garrett,

Prayers and thoughts from central NC are sent your grandfather's, grandmother's and your way, Brother!

I had a great uncle in Indiana who suffered from emphysema for several years.

Garrett, how very hard that must be for all of you. Yes, loved ones do come first before anything. You're a good grandson for sure. I'll keep you and your grandparents in my thoughts and prayers. Special ((HUGS)) for you for being such a really good person.

Garrett, what a scary and trying time for all of you. I know you must feel blessed that you have such a tight relationship with your grandparents, and I'm sure they feel blessed that you are there for them during this time. God Bless you all...praying for a speedy recovery for your grandfather, and extra strength for you and and grandma, while you get grandpa through this. HUGS!

Absolutely Garrett - I will pray for your beloved Grandfather. And remember, take care of yourself too. I've had a few relatives in similar situations, you can run yourself ragged, forgetting to eat or get decent sleep. Your mom is going to need you!

Hugs....
