Allergies

#1 Postby Tstormwatcher » Thu Mar 02, 2006 8:10 pm

My allergies have been really dragging me down the last couple of days. I am allergic to all grasses and many trees. This is the earliest it has ever hit me. All the pills I take don't seem to be helping me this time. I do get shots once a month, I get them tomorrow, hope they help( I get 4). Anybody else having problems right now?

I'm fortunate that I don't have any allergies, except for when the mold spores act up, they bother me a bit.

I'm allergic to mold spores, pollen, trees/grasses, animal dander and penicillin. Flonase and Zyrtec help me alot!

My daughter is allergic to the oak pollen and look where she lives, right where oaks grow in abundance. We have one in the yard across the street from us. I told here to stock up on her allergy medicine because the oaks are blooming.

Yes, it seems like my seasonal allergies are starting earlier than in past years. I can pretty much work around that heavy-lidded "lizard eyes" look, dry itchy eyes, and sneezing, but the past several days I've been really bothered with fierce allergy-related sinus headaches. I take Zyrtec daily and use Astelin spray when I feel particularly awful (I know I'm supposed to take 2 sprays twice a day, but it's the nastiest nasal spray I've ever used!). I can't take anything with a decongestant because of high blood pressure issues.

With the mild winter we had it's no wonder the allergy season has started early. I'm lucky because i usually have allergy problems in the winter. I feel for all of you and stock up on your meds cuz the allergy season will be looooooooooong this year.

Lately my eyes have just been killing me. So I've been taking a 24 hour generic version of Claritin. Not the Claritin D type (that gives you energy but contains that drug they're controlling now). And it's not working. Then I thought okay maybe it's my mascara. I was due to buy a new tube. That didn't work. My right eye was tearing up at work yesterday and I know my boss was looking at me oddly - is this lady on something or not? LOL

So today, I'm allergy meds free. I'm going to see if that generic Claritin was even helping at all (had been sneezing and of all things, nasal crustiness - sorry don't know how else to say that, ewww!).

I can feel my eyes already stinging. The only thing that does help is soaking two tea bags in hot water, ringing them out and applying to them to my eyelids, for 15 minutes. Going to do that before work.

Visine does nothing! Maybe I should switch to an eye drop that contains antihistamine?

So I feel for ya. Allergies are awful. You're not really sick, sick enough to be contagious so you must go on with your day but at the same time, you feel lousy.

You're not alone, I've been blowing my nose every freakin' day, and you would think I would get rid of the junk that's in my nose.

Oh, I got rid of it alright, but the minute I sneeze, my nose gets stuffed up...again.

My daughter is allergic to pollen, and we are surrounded by oaks. She seems to have been suffering for close to 2 weeks now. She is the only one in my immediate family who has these allergies. Poor baby. The Clariton seems to help her out, dries her up some.

Got my shots today and hopefully they will start working quickly. Nights are usually the worst for me. God I hate this time of the year.

My Claritin free day worked - my eyes feel normal.

And I also skipped mascara.

So now I don't know what prompted this turn of events. And oh the temps dropped....who knows but at least I don't walk around feeling like I just need to close my eyes.

22 times?
Is that per minute or per hour?

My allergies have not acted up as yet, largely due to the fact that its still Winter here and nothing has flowered as yet.
That will change in the next few weeks. But for now, we are safe.
