Anyone famaliar with the following motherboard?????

#1 Postby angelwing » Wed Mar 15, 2006 8:28 am

ASUS A8N-SLI? I've read the book that came with it, I've googled, I went to ASUS web site and I am still stymied (or maybe confused)and I'm trying to find the best way to fix this without spending a lot money that I don't have.

The chipset fan on the motherboard is making noise and I felt it and it's hot. I wanted to take the fan off, but I don't know what's behind the fan-and the reason I want to take the fan off is because it's hot! I have the cover off the PC right now with a fan blowing on it, but it's no way to really run a PC and I do need it for my other job. The only thing that I have been able to figure out is that I may need a ZM-NB47J but then again I'm confused and not sure.

If anyone can understand my rambling, am I on the right track?

It's not the best idea to run your computer with the cover off from what I have heard, due to the fact that static electricity could possibly get into some of the components inside, discharge, and fry something. Also it speeds up the buildup of dust on things such as your fans, motherboard, and cables; which could also be a cause of your heat issues.

Dust isn't the problem with our PC's, my hubby is very very meticulous, all of them get blown out, dusted, cleaned, checked, and the outside of the cases get waxed (if they can be). Ever since we modded them, we keep a close eye on dust.

I know it's not a good idea with the cover off, but it only comes off about 5-6 hours a nite so I can do my job, then I put it back on, it's a pain but you gotta do what you gotta do.

if the fan on the chipset isnt working, you should be able to replace it. an overheated chipset has a short lifespan....
