Eddy Vortex and Loop current

#1 Postby windycity » Sat Mar 25, 2006 11:49 am

Iv been puzzled by the eddy vortex this season, has the loop current caused it to branch off and enlarge?Being that the E.V is separate from the loop, its worrisome to see SSTs enlarge in eddys beyond the loop.Last year it wasnt like this, and as time goes on,it makes you wonder what will the GOM look like in July? :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :

i got some info last night on this years huricane season ,from someone who has been studying hurricanes for almost 20 years i cant give out his name but he said this year might endup being the most deadliest hurricane in history he also warned we may have 4 or 5 majors in the gulf due to the sea surface temps and he also said florida will continue with getting hit.he specified if we have a strong bermuda high south florida might get nailed by a big one.sorry for alarming people but i was told to pass the word on.

Gotta have a hurricane there first! The Gulf loop current/associated warm core eddy is pretty impressive though..

Just like with the Gulf Stream, eddies occasionally break off the loop current in the GOM also. The loop current has been there a long time, it is what fueled Hurricane Camille back in 69........MGC

The loop current seems to be the fuel for all these cat 5 hurricanes

Yes, the loop current and the infamous Gulf Stream off SE FL (examples: Andrew max winds 200mph gusts, 1935 Labor Day Hurricane one of the most intense hurricanes in history, 1926 Great Miami Hurricane 150mph sustained, 1947 Ft. lauderdale Hurricane 160mph)

today in PalmBeachPost,on the front page was a article about what all of us have known for months. Most people will read it and freak. They think the answer to their problem is to leave if a hurricane threatens their area. Its the fight or flight responce.Everyone needs to prepare!!!!Even those that normally evacuate out of town, what would happen if next time,it isnt possible?Panic sets in which isnt good for anybody. This season IS scary, but im going to do the very best i can do to prepare for every possible situation, down to a bombing major. We plan on leaving if that were to happen, but i also have a backup plan if its not possible to leave. It comes down to where you will be SAFE,nothing else matters. :) :) :) :)
