Need Help Finding Affordable Anemometer!!!!

#1 Postby Blown Away » Fri Apr 07, 2006 11:46 am

I'm looking for an anemometer I can install on the house with a digital monitor for inside the house. Amateur use only, does not have to be real sophisticated. I'd like to keep it <$1000. I figure if I invest some of my hard earned money towards my fascination for weather/high winds that will keep the hurricanes away.

Here' one for $10. To make it digital, I guess you could mount a webcam in front of it so that you're able to monitor it from a remote location. You could probably also put a little bell next to the gator to receive audible alerts in windy conditions.

You might also give this "forum" a try. Don't think it gets too much activity, but there is still a lot of good info in the threads there...

Ok I guess I need to be serious. Check out this link for a complete weather station for under $100.00. There are also various hand held wind gauges.

If you are looking for under 1000 dollars then you CAN get the lower end Davis Station for about $395 or about 100 dollars more if you add the rainguage.
