Cell Phone
We just got the family plan thru Cingular, 700 hours, nights and weekends for two phones with rollover. We found that we have never used all and always roll some over. John uses his office phone at work, so he doesn't use that much time there with it. We pay a total of $70 a month for both phones. So, I had our house phone disconnected. Why use it for $30 some extra a month. The cell phones and email are all we need. Also, I have another phone line to the computer that if I had an outage, etc. I could hook that line up to my little black princess phone. I think this is a good deal.
Do you still have a house phone line or are you just using cell phones now?

We have a land line and cell phones. Land line is a digital ran through my computer modem. I have a boost pay as you go mobile phone, its great because I don't use it that much and I only end up spending about 20 a month for it, and it has all the bells and whistles I need. Hubby has a Nextel for his work and I am unsure about his bill. My digital phone rocks, its cheap and gives me all I need.

Keeping the home phone, in fact trying to find the old-fasahioned dial phone so we can have a phone hookup for when the power goes out (this phone will still work in a power outage)and the power goes out once a month here. If I wasn't for my hubby I wouldn't even have a home phone, it hardly gets used
Have pay as you go cell phones which if I didn't work so far from home, I wouldn't have a cell phone in the first place, they're all junk (IMHO)

I cannot live without my cell phone. We absolutely have not used our regular home phone for months, so I got tired of paying $30 basic for it. With email, I can talk to out of towners all the time. I have so many hours, I can afford to call long distance on my cell phone too. I can always disconnect my office phone line that is connected to the computer and put with a princess phone for emergencies, power outages. etc.

You don't need a rotary phone, a cheap $10 push button phone with no bells or whistles will work when you lose power. I have one I keep in my bedroom for when that happens. The portable phones are useless.
After one of the hurricanes when we lost power for a short time none of my neighbors could use their portable phones or cell phones so they came over and used my cheap phone.

Land line and cell and plan on keeping both. When I'm home, I use my regular phone for all local calls, etc. I use my cell a lot when I'm not home. 600 anytime minutes, free nights and weekends, and unlimited incoming calls. I never go over. If I think I'm close, I can call someone and have them call me back with unlimited incoming.

Same here, Frick. I have a GE push button phone in my bedroom. I think it was somewhere close to $10 and it has caller ID too. Gotta keep one of those hooked up for power outages.

I still live at home with my parents, so we still have a home phone. But, I have my own cell phone that I pay for every month through Cingular. My mom has her own cell phone, too. When I can finally afford to move out, I will only have my cell. Why pay 2 phone bills when I will hardly ever be home anyway? I pay around $55 a month. I have 450 daytime minutes, 1000 night and weekend minutes. And tons of rollover. I never get close to even going near over my minutes. I am not like one of these people walking everywhere with my phone glued to my ear. I really don't like talking on the phone much. Much rather talk to people in person. But, I have it because I am hardly ever home and always on the go. I like to have it in case my car breaks down or something. And for my family and friends to always have a way to get in touch with me. After Hurricane Katrina, we could not use our cell phone for months. All the towers were destroyed. So I could only use our home phone. Our home phone never went out.
