The MCS that has effected the Victoria area has decreased our rain chances today because of cloud cover and lack of heating. Monday thru Wednesday will be our best chance.

So far all of that has stayed mostly to the West of Houston. Some went South too. Not even enough sprinkles to measure in the gauge!!! :grr:

Yeah, it's just been cloudy here all day with off-and-on sprinkles. Nothing measurable. That MCS pretty-much ruined our chances for today.

Maybe tomorrow if we can get some sun, we'll see some decent rain fire-up.

Should be alot more active Monday and Tuesday than what we saw Sunday. The MCS and it's Cloud Debris screwed us up. Weak 700 low over East Texas and plenty of moisture should spell alot of showers the next few days.

Showers are really increasing tonight across the coastal counties as deep tropical moisture moves into the region..A weak disturbance coming out of the 700 low over East Texas helping to generate showers as well...

WOW!! What a difference 7 hours makes!! Just woke up to thunderstorms and rain. What a welcome sound even on a holiday with the deficit we were working on. Currenetly have about 0.60" here in Spring Branch area. Radar shows we are in a "tail" of rain off the main portion to our N and E. Harris County, which includes most of Houston is under a Flash Flood Warning till 8:45am due to these storms, which seem to be moving slowly to the East, at least in my area.

Speaking of to our East, radar shows that some areas have gottten upwards of 12" of rain overnight betweeen Houston and Beaumont. Even though there are some towns in the area it shows, most of the area is rural and in fact most of the area where the heavy rains are occurring this am appear to be rural.

Wonder what the rest of the day will hold?

UNBELIEVABLE!!! Since 1 AM some parts of the Beaumont/Port Arthur areas have recieved a foot of rain since 1 AM..Storms have remained stalled over the area as weak mid level low continues over the region. This is just like having a Tropical Storm the way the rain begin during the late night hours..

I received this from Jeff, one of the mets who posts on our board. This area is to the N and E of where I am, but I am concerned about a few of our posters in that area. Hopefully they are ok and not in the flooding areas.

Flash Flood event underway across SE TX.

8.32 inches of rain has fallen over Luce Bayou at FM 2100 in the last 5.0 hours. 45 minute rainfall rates of 2.5-3.5 inches are occuring over central Harris County along I-45 from Spring to the 610N Loop. ALERT gage at Airline and Halls Bayou recorded 2.95 inches in just under 30 minutes.

Widespread 2-3 inches of rain has fallen across the county and an additional 2-3 inches is possible.

10-12 inches have fallen over portions of Liberty and Chambers County since midnight.

Flash flooding is in progress across N-central and NE Harris County.

We currently have FF and FFW in effect for some areas. The FFW runs till 7 pm.
