Right now there's too much shear, however, in 36 - 48 hours, if convection is persistant, the BoC will be pretty favorable when it comes to wind shear. The GFS does put a low in that area in the short term, but does nothing with it. I doubt convection will stay persistant long enough, but who knows. Here's another visible shot:

Way to much shear....

The subtropical jet has been persistent across the GOM and Caribbean for the past few weeks. Not looking like much in the way of development early on unless something gives.

Yes Zack, I agree with you on the shear right now, but what are your thoughts on the convection hanging around for 36 - 48 hours or so? The shear is "supposed" to let up by then, but I see where you're coming from...it hasn't in the last few weeks.

The models show this blob and do nothing with it.

The rain southeast, Texas is recieving right now can easily be compared to tropical storm type rain. Some parts of southeast, Texas have recieve 12 to 15 inches of rain! It's not over yet.

I know... I pray that no one looses their home in this event. The rain is falling over Southeast Texas including Houston.

My current concern with that blob would be more if the abundant moisture from it is pulled up into the ongoing system we are dealing with now. That we don't need.

Could we just have the rain off of the blob? We need rain here like most of the Gulf Coast!

Which brings us up to that timely statement:

It doesn't take a hurricane to cause disaster in the Houston/Galveston area.

I couldn't agree more. In Florida, it's mostly inland rain -- if any at all.
