Hurricane Town Meetings for N. Fla and S. Georgia

#1 Postby WeatherNole » Wed May 31, 2006 10:02 pm

Hello all. Just wanted to pass along info to those of you in the Big Bend area (FL) and SW Georgia. We (WCTV) will be holding 4 hurricane town meetings during the next 6 weeks. We are scheduled to have the WCTV Weather Staff, NWS & Red Cross representatives, local law enforcement, emergency management and insurance officials - all to be on hand to brief residents on OUR responsibilities, and answer questions from area attendees.

Friday, June 9th in Carrabelle - Carrabelle Meeting Facility-1621 Highway 98 W from 7pm - approx. 8pm (longer if needed).

Friday, June 16th in Perry - Taylor County High School Gym - 7pm-8pm

Friday, July 7th in Thomasville - Plaza Restaurant - 7pm-8pm

Saturday, July 15th at the new WCTV Studios in Tallahassee - 1801 Halstead Blvd. NOON- 2PM **

** This will also be our inaugural "WCTV Community Weather Day", with the same lineup as the other Hurricane Town Meetings, but also with (hopefully) local AMS Chapter(FSU), FSU Dept. of Meteorology, and giveaways from weather vendors, along wth tours of the new WCTV facilities. It is still a work in progress, but I think it will be a fun time for area weather enthusiasts.

Thanks! Hope to see some of you there!

Mike McCall
WCTV Chief Meteorologist
