Hurricane season is coming up. For those of you who have pets and need a place to put them if by chance you get hit and have to leave, where do you take them?

This would be the ideal time to let all posters know of shelters in your area who are willing to take in pets before a Storm or Cane.

Please give us the name of the shelters in your town so we can make a list of them for our members.

Do your homework for the members of Storm2k by calling shelters in your area and asking if they are prepared this year to take our pets in.

Thanks

There are only two shelters in our area and they do not take pets. The kennel facilities at our vet board animals during a hurricane, even a cat 5. but I'm taking our baby with us.

My sister always offers for us to come to her house," but you can't bring the dogs", so I told her , if I go , they go. There are many hotels that will allow them especially in extreme circumstances.

Yes, it would probably be a good idea to get the names of hotels and motels that take them too.

I cheked out petswelcome last night, we were having a very severe T-storm and if the power went out (which it does a lot here) was looking for a place to take the hubby & Digger and only found 2 and they were far from me, but at least I have an idea for any future needs

Last year, we did not have a pet to worry about. This year we do. We have a 5-month old yorkie puppy Chloe. If Terrebonne Parish goes under a hurricane warning for a 3 or higher, we now go under a mantatory evacution. Everyone must leave. It just depends on where the storm is headed on where we would go. Last year, we went to my aunt and uncles in Ville Plate for Katrina. There is no way I would ever leave my dog behind. She is a part of this family.

Would never leave my "best friend" behind... saw wayyy too many tragedies where people left their pets at "kennels" in New Orleans...and came back to tragedy. Nope... Mine comes with me if we have to sleep in the truck together.
