Headin' to Dallas!

#1 Postby wx247 » Fri Jun 16, 2006 7:13 pm

Hey everyone! It has been a busy week for me as I have been preparing to take my students to Nationals in Dallas. We leave tomorrow morning at 9 and I will be taking my laptop along to fill you in on our progress! We are taking 8 this year, a school record. We originally only qualified five, but three of our alternates made it in at-large, which never happens so we are excited!!! :multi:

More as I have information for you!

Oh, and if you are from that area and you know of must-see things, especially if they are inexpensive... please respond and let me know. I will likely check this thread before I leave.

Off to pack,
Garrett :multi:

Wait a second . . . nationals, and in Dallas? Would this be for TSA? Because that's what I'll be heading down to Dallas next Tuesday for.

NFL Speech and Debate... we are here in Las Colinas this evening. We got in around 9:30. We started late due to a mixup at the rental car counter back at home. It is a beautiful area we are in. :) Time for bed! G'night!

Good morning everyone!!! Great things are happening in Dallas. :)

I have a student who made top 30 of international speaking, but did not make it to semifinals... sooooo close!

I have a student who is still in Informative (Expository) in the top 80.

But, we have a Public Forum debate team still in and they are down to the top 19 teams in the nation!!!!!! I can't believe it. This has been an unbelievable week! All the events started with well over 400 students. I am beside myself for joy. I hopefully will fill you in and bring you more good news later today!!! :multi:

Well everyone is now out. My public forum debate team had a valiant effort and made it to the top 13 in the country before falling out. They will be receiving their trophy tomorrow morning. The top 14 teams are recognized. This is the best ever in the history of Monett debate!!! :multi:

Thanks everyone for your well wishes. We are going to see Les Miserables in Dallas tomorrow and then we will start for home. I can't wait to get back to Missouri. As much as I love these kids, I would rather sleep in my own bed.
