Like the Atlantic, the last B hurricane was 1999, Hurricane Bret. It seems the EPAC could establish a new record pretty soon.

One thing that's weird is on this hurricane heat potential map it was much warmer in the months of May and early June and then it get cooler or "worse" as time went on. It has leveled off but it's weird.

Something I looked at a week or so ago was the longest gap between the first and second storms being named...

1981 Adrian named May 31 Beatriz 29 June - 29 days
1977 Ava named May 26 Bernice June 26 - 31 days
2006 Aletta named May 27 41 days Bud ??? - 41 days and counting
1966 Adele named June 21 Blanca Aug 3 - 43 days
2004 Agatha named May 22 Blas 12 Jul - 51 days
1972 Anette named June 1 Bonny July 28 - 57 days

All of these except 1981 turned out below average in terms of named storms, but the only one well below average was 1977, when there were only eight named storms.

I think this season will get past 1966 on this list, but not much further in terms of number of days ...not with what the GFS and NOGAPS models have been brewing up for the past day or so...

I was expecting a quiet EPac season. I wouldn't be surprised if there are fewer than 10 storms this season.
